As a judicial concept dating back to the 17th century, the term ex(tra)territoriality has long excited the interest of scholars and writers who have, since the 20th century, not hesitated to appropriate the notion, widening and transforming it in the process. Ce transfert du qualificatif ex(tra)territorial vers les humanités a ouvert un autre espace de réflexion, un espace d’imagination, grâce notamment à une relecture créatrice, ce qui a pu donner lieu à de nouveaux concepts apparentés comme celui de « déterritorialisation ».
