It also tries to measure the impact of visiting American library specialists on library science education in India. An effort is also made to find out how the Library of Congress PL 480 Acquisitions Program helped universities and other research institutions in the U.S. to strengthen their library collections with the additions of Indian material of research value and the kind of impact these acquisitions produced. The work undertakes to determine the role played by the American Center libraries in India, American studies Research Center and the American Institute of Indian studies in meeting the library needs of the Indian clientele and finally gives an assessment of the Indian influence on American library thinking.
