Political geography studies the spatial differences and similarities, which are political in character. It describes political phenomena in their association with other features of the earha's surface, such as landforms, climate, water bodies and economic activities, or social matters, which help man in organising the space for political purposes. The present study attempts a politico geographical appraisal of physical and cultural landscape of a fascinating region lying on the Central Highlands of India. It aims to explore the impact of geography on the geopolitical evolution and structure and the resultant political behaviour of the erstwhile Indore State, which merged with the Indian Union in 1948. The observational and survey research methods have been adopted in conducting this study. The functional and morphologic approaches have been blended together to analyse the spatial relationship of an erst while political unit.
