Endometriosis is a chronic inflammation and multisystem disease whose aetiology remains unclear. In-depth insights into cellular and molecular events would facilitate the development of therapeutic methods to keep endometriosis under control and delay disease progression. Moreover, non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers and imaging measures are urgently needed to detect the extent of endometriosis and assess its efficacy. Thus, it is crucial to deepen the mechanism research and determine whether these factors can be therapeutically targeted in endometriosis.
