The Book is widely known as "Chin Ping Mei" in China, it is labeled as the first realistic novel in Chinese literature history. The initial publication of it was in 1610, and was crowned as one of four Masterworks of Ming Dynasty (1368--1644). The leading character of the Book is Ximen Qing, a successful and rich merchant, who uses his wealth and money to establish his powerful relationship with local government and high ranking officials of royal court to expand his business and leads a decayed and lustful life. The Book describes the social activities and business activities of Ximen Qing as a merchant and the daily life with his wife and concubines. Through the description of these activities and daily life, the Book fully discloses the weakness of human nature in the power and money relationship and in the face of benefits; it is, to some extent, a kaleidoscope of Chinese feudal society. The plots of the story are the true reflection of real social life and daily life of that time. The Book has 100 chapters in total and is written in simplified Chinese characters, the text is the initial version of 1610 and inserted with a large number of graceful poems, lyrics and songs. The ancient variant Chinese characters in the Book have been converted into modern ones.
