In The Seven Transparent Days, Silja Walter unfolds the stages of her spiritual path in accordance with the seven days of creation. Reflections and poetry intertwine, opening up perspectives into the 'deepest depth' of the soul in her journey to God and into the "seventh day." The dancing rhythm of Silja Walter's language makes for a heart-opening and deeply spiritual reading experience.Biography:Silja Walter, (1919-2011) lived a cloistered life for many years at the Fahr Abbey, a monastery of the Benedictine Order, in Switzerland. This provided the backdrop for volumes of spiritual writing, and other works of art from a remarkable yet very humble woman. Her name at birth was Cécile Walter. She was born into the famous publishing family of Walter Verlag in the Rickenback village in Solothurn, Switzerland. At age twenty-nine, in 1948, already known as a promising young poet, she joined the monastery outside of Zürich that she would call, "the abbey at the edge of the city." Her award-winning legacy of over 60 publications include a wide variety of spiritual poetry, fiction, theology, and oratorios. She was also an artist and choreographed liturgical dance. Her lyrical sensibilities move throughout all of her creative works. Considered a spiritual mystic in the Catholic faith tradition, she continues to inspire many today. The Seven Transparent Days, originally written in German, is the first translation of her work into English.
