Epiphany's Insight is a story of a young girl and her brother Roebuck being raised by their grandmother. They face a lot of challenges living in a small apartment in over crowed New York city. Roebuck is older but listens to his little sisters insights about things that are happening all around them as they look out for each other. This story focuses on Roebuck and his brief involvement with the gangs of NYC. Her brother set up a communications system of drums, with young boys on the street corners to warn his fellow gang members of rival gangs moving into their territory and also unexpected police raids against them. Epiphany happens to be a very close friends of one of the drummer boys, they go to the same school and sit by each other in class. One day the unexpected happens, the young boy was killed in a drive-by shooting. Epiphany is heartbroken and can't take hearing about any more violence, so she challenges her brother to do something to make positive changes, because in her words "we're losing too many young kids to gangs, drugs, and violence". Roebuck never wanted to be a part of the gangs anyway, and was literally strong-armed into joining the gang. Now Roebuck has an Epiphany and gathers all the street drummers together and they play for dance competitions performed at the parks and on the streets of NYC. A tragic and devastating situation turned around and brought to a peaceful resolve,? all because of an Epiphany!
