His biggest clergy adversary is Danny Burns, a successful pastor of a church with five thousand members and a school with member-families only. What Wayne considers as his calling has cost him his marriage. He meets Joyce Barton on the beach. She is a single mom, a nurse, and a singer. They begin a romantic journey. TC Woolard, a retired Air Force veteran, owns Fox's Den and wants her to sing there. He dislikes all ministers.
