Professor Thomas J. Meyer is a world-renowned physical/inorganic chemist who has devoted his career to research in the area of solar energy conversion and artificial photosynthesis. He is currently the Arey Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he has taught and conducted research since 1968. He is the author and co-author on over 760 technical publications and reviews. More than 270 scientists have worked with Professor Meyer on his research team as students, postdocs, and collaborators, and many of them have contributed photos, letters, and technical reviews to this collection. Research symposia were held in 2001 (Santa Fe, NM) and in 2016 (National ACS Meeting, Philadelphia, PA) to celebrate Professor Meyer's 60th and 75th birthdays, respectively, and to honor him and his scientific achievements. This book contains personal and group photographs spanning 50+ years, letters, CV, and biographical information, interviews, technical presentations, and reviews-all intended to capture and convey some of what it means to be a member of Professor Meyer's academic family. The material in this book has been collected and made available to the research group as a tribute to Professor Meyer. It is intended to honor not only his professional achievements but also his more personal achievements in terms of the many scientists he has educated, mentored, supported, and collaborated with over the past five decades.
