A Sailor's Tale is written by John Barford Lindop and published by CreateSpace. It's available with International Standard Book Number or ISBN identification 1514802139 (ISBN 10) and 9781514802137 (ISBN 13).

John Barford Lindop gives an eye-witness account of life in the British Royal Navy at the end of World War 2. He was assigned to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) as a radar plotter. His book features facts and photographs of the ships on which he sailed and the camps where he was based. In his introduction he writes:- The mechanism whereby this Magnus Opus came into being was a combination of two factors, the first having just completed the Lindop family history, commenced in 1962, then looking for something to research next; factor two was a providential visit to the World War 2 cruiser HMS Belfast moored on the Thames as a floating museum. Belfast was almost a twin to HMS Newcastle (cover picture) aboard which I sailed from the UK to Ceylon and this visit to HMS Belfast evoked instant and largely forgotten memories, awaking a nostalgia for events some forty years past; the research problems were immediately resolved, why not research Able Seaman Lindop and his service in the Royal Navy?
