A handsome but naive young man from the country leaves his rural hometown after the death of his mother and grandmother and goes to the big city. Although a brilliant student, he had found it necessary to drop out of high school four years earlier to care for and support them. Inmates try to teach him their criminal ways and it almost leads him into a life of crime. When released he meets a beautiful Criminal Psychology student and joins her in an activist movement that her group has organized to make it unlawful to jail first timers in the same cells with hardened criminals. They fall madly in love, but then find that both have vowed to retain their virginity until marriage. Neither has contemplated marriage and they find themselves locked in a fierce battle with temptation.
