On Hinduism is a collection of essays and writings about the ancient Hindu texts by Wendy Doniger. Summary of the Book Presented in the style of connected essays, this book sets about exploring Hinduism and the vastly uncharted territory of ancient Sanskrit texts. She answers questions long pondered, about Hinduism and polytheism, how atheism can be a part of Hinduism too, how Hinduism sees non-violence and how salvation is subjective. She also discusses the Hindu theories of dharma, karma and janma. She discusses rebirth and shows how ancient Hindu texts have regarded it. Wendy Doniger draws from her knowledge as an Orientalist and Sanskrit scholar to show that much of what we know about Hinduism isn't true at all, and that there is much, much more waiting to be discovered.
